MARINA FLAMINGO DEVELOPMENT CONSTRUCTION COMMENCES
FLAMINGO, COSTA RICA – January 22, 2020 – MARINA FLAMINGO DEVELOPMENT, SRL has begun construction on a new world-class full-service Marina and Marina Village resort development in Playa Flamingo, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
The ‘Marina Flamingo’ development includes 175 wet slips along with a dry boat storage facility and two mixed-use retail and residential buildings totaling more than 15,000 m2. An oceanfront land parcel is also being created for a future hotel resort development totaling 25,000 m2 / 6.2 acres.
The Mission of Marina Flamingo Development Group is to play a foundational role in making the Guanacaste Coast into the premier coastal community in all of the Americas. Our focus is to create a synergistic relationship between the environment and the local community by encouraging sustainable practices of eco-tourism.
For the environment:
Marina Flamingo is a socially and environmentally responsible development that is aware of the interrelationship of the ocean with the rich biodiversity of the Guanacaste Province. Our focus is on promoting sustainable environmentally responsible practices and local ecotourism to creating a vibrant community. Environmental monitoring programs, ecologically responsible site preparation, and estuary and ocean water quality testing play key roles in achieving these goals.
For Safety:
General Public and worker safety is our number one priority. For the safety of all marine traffic, we have requested that all current boat ramp users utilize the parking and vessel taxi loading area situated adjacent to the coast guard facility.
Further safety measures currently in place are directed at pedestrian and vehicular traffic safety signaling. The concession site perimeter is secured with restricted access and our goal is to mitigate against accidents and avoid traffic incidents while maintaining a safe working environment.

For the community:
Marina Flamingo will be the heartbeat of the local community. This development will allow our local entrepreneurs to showcase their skills and celebrate the “Pura Vida” lifestyle of Costa Rica. The establishment of key alliances and regular collaboration with the government and local organizations will ensure a dynamic community.
Community Update:
As of October 8th, 2019, the project was approved with all environmental and construction permits for Phase 1
As many in the local area have now experienced, the infrastructure phase is now in progress. This phase requires long working shifts, the use of heavy machinery and the transportation of substantial amounts of rock & material to the site. This first phase will take approximately two years to complete after which time the community of Flamingo will have a state-of-the-art fully operational marina.
After many years of careful preparation and planning, we are very excited to announce that this project is now becoming a reality. We look forward to the day when our valued community members, visitors and clients can experience all that Marina Flamingo has to offer. The socio-economic impact on the Playa Flamingo community and the entire Guanacaste region will bring many exciting new opportunities for growth.
